Campus Copy art contest up and running

Campus Copy, a branch of UO Printing and Mailing Services, held an art contest last year to promote the business’s location and to “add some creativity to the stark EMU walls and showcase the talent we have at the university,” says Printing and Mailing Services Assistant Director John Boytz.

“Without knowing what to expect,” Boytz adds, “We had almost 100 entries, 1,100 ‘likes’ on Facebook and two of the top winners were interviewed on the local news. We were proud and pleased at the response.”

With such a successful endeavor out of the gate, Printing and Mailing Services has decided to hold the contest again. In fact, the contest is up and running now, through Feb. 21.

Any UO student, faculty or staff member may submit original artwork for a chance to have the work printed on canvas and displayed in the EMU basement for a year.

There is no limit to the number of entries submitted and submission is free.

The top three winners and five runners up will have their work displayed on the walls above the self-service copy machines, gain campus-wide and community recognition and build their portfolio.
Original works of art should be emailed to campuscopy@uoregon.edu. The works will then be posted to the Campus Copy Facebook page.

Participants are encouraged to have their friends “like” their submissions on Facebook, as the works with the most number of “likes” will progress to the final round. Final round judges consist of two EMU student board members, three Campus Copy student employees and one staff member.

For contest details and updates, visit Facebook.com/CampusCopyDucks or visit the Campus Copy in person in the basement of the EMU. Questions can be emailed to CampusCopy@uoregon.edu.

Entries are due by Thursday, Feb. 21. The winners will be revealed in a ceremony with President Michael Gottfredson and local media the following week.
