Celebration of life will remember UO library specialist

A memorial gathering will be held this Thursday, July 31, for former UO library worker and alumna Susie Scroggins, who died last week at age 48.

A celebration of life will begin at 4 p.m. in the Knight Library Browsing Room. The event will include music, food and “a party that would make her smile.”

Scroggins graduated from the university in 1992 with a bachelor’s degree in humanities and worked at the UO for more than 10 years. She started in the library in 2000 and later worked in the psychology department before returning to the library in 2012.

“She was a fun–loving, very lively, very witty woman,” co-worker Lesli Larson said. “She had many friends; she was very active.”

Larson said Scroggins will be remembered for her abundant joy, biting wit and generous kindness.

“She was very much a representative of a Eugene citizen. She could do academics, but she was also very playful,” Larson said.
