UO: A couple minutes with ... Anne

A couple minutes with ... Anne Dhu McLucas

June 4, 2012

“A couple minutes with…” features Anne Dhu McLucas, professor of musicology and ethnomusicology -- and former dean -- in the University of Oregon School of Music and Dance ... and lifelong outdoorswoman.

McLucas developed her love of the outdoors as a child in Colorado. She learned to ski and enjoyed hiking and camping with her family. After a professional stint in Boston, she came to Eugene 20 years ago and found an unspoiled natural world, where she has pursued skiing (downhill and cross country), rock climbing, hiking and more. Her ambition as she approaches retirement following next fall term? To continue skiing and hiking into her 90s.

Is there someone on campus we should spend a couple minutes with? Send an e-mail to Inside Oregon editor Joe Mosley.

Our aim is to get past people’s roles at the University of Oregon, and focus on the personal interests that make them stand out. Do we have a rodeo clown on campus? A world-class triathlete? How about a blue water sailor, or a blue ribbon baker? It it catches your interest, share it.

Maybe the person’s story will make you say, “Amazing!” Or maybe you’ll be thinking, “Dang!”
