“Creature” opens Thursday at Hope Theatre

University Theatre’s “Creature,” a play by Heidi Schreck, opens this weekend at the Hope Theatre, Miller Theatre Complex on the UO campus.

The play, which is directed by Tricia Rodley and is suitable for ages 13+, opens
at 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 24, and includes shows at the same time on Jan. 25, 26, 31, Feb. 1 and 2, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 3.

Playwright Heidi Schreck is a UO alum (Theatre Arts, 1992), as well as an OBIE-winning actor. The play, about faith and its messengers, takes place in the year 1401 and chronicles a more-or-less modern woman’s life-long quest for faith. The play alternates between poignancy and humor as the audience follows protagonist Margery Kempe’s journey.

The play’s mature content makes it unsuitable for children ages 12 and younger.

Tickets are $14 general, $12 UO faculty, staff, non-UO students, and free for UO students. They can be purchased through the EMU box office at 541-346-4363 or online at http://tickets.uoregon.edu/theatre.

The Honors College’s Louise Bishop will host a talkback after the Thursday, Jan. 31 performance. The talkback is free.
