CSWS offers grant funds for research on women and gender

The UO Center for the Study of Women in Society is inviting faculty members and students to submit funding proposals for research projects in the coming academic year.

The center awards tens of thousands of research dollars every year to faculty members, staff members and graduate students from a range of disciplines doing research or creative work on women and gender. Last year, it awarded 15 grants totaling more than $103,000.

Here are the details:

  • Graduate research grants: Deadline is Jan. 29. Available to UO graduate students, these grants support research or creative work on women and gender from a range of disciplines. Awards up to $3,000 are available for the academic year July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019.
  • Jane Grant Dissertation Fellowship: Deadline is Jan. 29. This prestigious fellowship, honoring the wife of center benefactor William Harris, is given annually to an outstanding scholar writing a dissertation on women and gender. Eligibility is limited to UO graduate students who have been advanced to candidacy or will have all work other than a dissertation complete by the date of the award, which carries a stipend of $12,000 plus additional benefits. Funding is for the academic year July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019.
  • Faculty/staff research grants: Deadline is Jan. 29. Available to UO faculty and staff with appropriate end degrees, these grants support research or creative work on women and gender from a range of disciplines. Awards up to $6,000 are available for the academic year July 1, 2018, to June 30, 2019.
