Human resources can help employees learn about mental health

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, the UO’s Human Resources office wants to be sure employees know about resources available to them to learn about mental health, talk about it, and do something about it.

Cascade Centers, UO’s employee assistance program, provides direct confidential access to licensed professional health counselors. The EAP offers benefit eligible employees the opportunity to talk to a counselor immediately, find a counselor convenient to home or work or schedule an appointment with a local counselor.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health, approximately 1 in 5 American adults have a mental health issue in a given year. Mental Health America provides infographics that offer insight into life with common mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety and bipolar disorder. Additionally, The National Institute of Mental Health provides resources for finding help with mental illness.
