Infrastructure upgrades require downtime June 20-21

Upgrades to large portions of the University of Oregon's technology infrastructure will require a 12-hour window of downtime for e-mail, UO websites and other resources, starting at 7 p.m. Friday night, June 20.

Services are slated to be available again by 7 a.m. Saturday, June 21.

During the maintenance window, users will not be able to send or receive e-mail messages. Incoming e-mail messages will be stored and delivered after the work has been completed.

“We hope that doing this work overnight after the end of the school year will alleviate some concerns about the outage itself,” said Patrick Chinn, director of strategic communications for Information Services. "We always strive to minimize downtime. However, after consulting with our vendors, we determined that this is the safest way to perform the job.”

During the downtime, the UO homepage and other UO web sites will display a maintenance message with links to the UO Alerts blog and the Information Services Status site.
