Lost items will now find their way to campus police

The University of Oregon is taking a new, more secure path to uniting people with their campus lost and found items.

Starting this month, the UO Police Department will receive, hold and distribute found property, from water bottles to laptop computers and nearly everything else. Essentially all found property regardless of value will go to UOPD, except perishable or hazardous items.

Found property from around the UO will be sent to UOPD each Tuesday for logging and storage. Owners can then check with UOPD and retrieve found property from the police station, 2141 E. 15th Ave. — at the northeast corner of East 15th Avenue and Walnut Street across from Fairmount Park — weekdays from 8 a.m.-4 p.m., excluding holidays.

Owners will be required to show identification and provide some proof of ownership, which can include a detailed description of the item. UOPD staff will contact owners of property that has visible contact information.

Lost and found inquiries can be emailed to found@uopd.org. The lost and found voice mailbox is 541-346-3232.
