Network maintenance will result in overnight Wi-Fi interruption

The university’s wireless networks will be intermittently unavailable during overnight maintenance Wednesday, July 26, to Thursday, July 27.

Information Services will be doing a minor update to the system. The maintenance is scheduled to start Wednesday at 11:30 p.m. and end by 7 a.m. Thursday.

The work will cause interruptions to wireless service. Information Services expects several periods of 10 to 20 minutes or longer during which no one will be able to connect to any campus wireless network. Also, devices that already are connected to Wi-Fi may be disconnected during those times.

“Although campus is already much quieter at this time of year, we know there are students here for summer session and prospective students coming to orientations throughout the summer,” said Patrick Chinn of Information Services. “We chose this late-night window between IntroDUCKtion sessions to minimize the impacts of this maintenance.”

The update itself is not expected to change the behavior of campus Wi-Fi.
