Outstanding advisors to be celebrated at reception

The Division of Undergraduate Studies and the All-Campus Advising Association have announced the winners of the 2016 University of Oregon Excellence in Undergraduate Advising Awards.

Alisa Freedman, an associate professor in the Department of East Asian Languages and Literatures in the College of Arts and Sciences, received the outstanding faculty advisor award, and Miranda Atkinson, assistant director of student services in the School of Journalism and Communication, received the outstanding professional advisor award.

The awards committee received close to 200 nominations and 51 applications for review. Applicants came from 30 different departments and clearly demonstrated the high quality, caring and creative undergraduate advising and mentoring that happens on the University of Oregon campus every day.

The awards recipients will be celebrated during a reception and brunch from 8:30-10 a.m. Wednesday, May 25, in Gerlinger Alumni Lounge.

Reservations are required by May 17 to attend the reception.
