President Gottfredson announces transition from the University of Oregon

Today in a letter to the UO Board of Trustees and in a message to the UO community, Michael Gottfredson announced his resignation as President of the University of Oregon. Under President Gottfredson's leadership for two years, the UO made great strides forward, including the establishment of an institutional governance board, securing the first faculty labor contract and identifying new benchmarks for academic excellence that will chart the future of the university.

In a statement of response, UO Trustees Board Chair Chuck Lillis praised Gottfredson’s leadership stating, “On behalf of the Board of Trustees, we are grateful for the leadership of Michael Gottfredson to put the University of Oregon on a path of excellence in every area that we compete. We wish him the best in his next endeavors and look forward to seeking new leadership at this time to continue the work he started and continue to build on the legacy of the University of Oregon."

The Board of Trustees will meet on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 4:30 p.m. to discuss university administration and personnel issues.  Here is the public notice.
