Professor Michael Posner named British Academy fellow

UO psychology professor emeritus Michael Posner recently was named a corresponding fellow by the British Academy.

The academy elected 42 academic experts in social sciences and the humanities within the United Kingdom and selected 15 corresponding fellows from universities around the world. Fellows are elected based on scholarly publication of their academic research in fields such as, psychology, history, economics and linguistics.

As professor emeritus at the UO Institute of Neuroscience, Posner also is an adjunct professor at the Sackler Institute for Developmental Psychobiology at Cornell University’s Weill Medical College. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Washington and his doctoral degree from the University of Michigan.

In addition to his most recent honor, Posner was awarded the National Medal of Science in 2008. Posner has received honorary degrees from the University of Paris and the University of Nottingham.
