RG editorial cites UO efforts in recruiting top students

The University of Oregon is taking the right approach by focusing its academic recruiting on the top high school students in Oregon and elsewhere, The Register-Guard said in an editorial this week.

The opinion piece from the RG's editorial board cited research from a Rutgers University economist and a story from the Chronicle of Higher Education in highlighting the economic importance of retaining and attracting top scholars to Oregon. The entire state will benefit from the UO's investment in academic recruiting, including new scholarships for high-achieving students, the editorial said.
