Sky high: UO featured in United Airlines magazine

You’d be hard pressed to find a more captive audience than one 30,000 feet above the ground.

That’s where hundreds of thousands of United Airlines passengers will learn more about the UO. The university plays a prominent role in the May issue of United Hemispheres Dossier, which features Oregon and the people, companies and institutions that make the state shine.

The magazine recognizes UO President Michael Schill as one of the state’s six leading innovators. He highlights the UO’s Sustainable City Year Program for helping make Oregon communities more environmentally and economically sustainable.

“It’s a really good project because not only does it benefit the communities in which it’s located, but it also gives our students really valuable training and insights into both the problems and the opportunities of the communities in the state,” Schill told the magazine.

Dossier also mentions the UO’s partnership with Oregon State University on the National Center for Advanced Wood Products Manufacturing and Design and its role as host for the 2021 IAAF World Championships.
