Sports media outlets point eyes to Ducks ‘cancer’ uniform

The UO football team knows how to keep fans in suspense, especially when it comes to what they will be wearing for kickoff.

This fall, those uniforms will carry a whole new meaning thanks to three young and very creative cancer patients from Doernbecher Children’s Hospital at Oregon Health and Science University.

Ethan Frank, Sophia Malinoski and Joe Macdonald worked with Nike designers and three football players to design the threads the team will wear when it hosts Nebraska on Sept. 9.

The partnership and video of the kids talking about their designs (spoiler alert: credit Sophia for coming up with the gloves with the Duck stomping on the word “cancer”) has hit the media world by storm, making the rounds in major media outlets such like ESPN, Yahoo Sports and CBS Sports.

All proceeds from the sales of the gear will go to the pediatric cancer fund at Doernbecher. For more information on the partnership and design process visit GoDucks.com.
