University Senate election and volunteer nominations open

The University Senate is encouraging faculty, students and staff to consider running for a Senate position or volunteering for a university committee.

Senate President Bill Harbaugh and Senate Vice President Chris Sinclair sent a message to campus inviting the campus community to get involved in shared governance at the UO. President Michael Schill and Provost Scott Coltrane have also encouraged university service through Senate or committee participation.

The Senate has created an online survey on its website where people can find committees or positions of interest. Filling out the survey requires logging in with a Duck ID.

The deadline to respond to the survey is Friday, April 14. Filling out the survey does not automatically put a person on a committee or the Senate ballot. The Senate will follow up with volunteers and nominees before taking any action.

Questions about the process should be directed to Betina Lynn, the senate executive coordinator, at senatecoordinator@uoregon.edu.
