The campus community is invited to attend the Oregon Bach Festival's July 7 concert at a special staff rate of $29 per ticket – savings of $20 – to welcome conductor Matthew Halls in his first Eugene performance as the designated successor to founding artistic director Helmuth Rilling.

The concert takes place at 7:30 p.m. in the Hult Center and the ticket includes a reception in the Hilton Eugene to meet the new conductor.

Halls will conduct two works in contrast: Bach’s joyous Lutheran Mass, and Michael Tippett's A Child of our Time, a deeply moving choral masterpiece composed in response to the outbreak of World War II.

The London-based director of the Retrospect early music ensemble, and a guest conductor with the Washington D.C., Detroit, and Houston symphonies, Halls was a unanimous selection of the OBF search committee to fill Rilling’s 40-year legacy, beginning with the 2014 festival.
