UO president speaks with Eugene Rotary Club

University of Oregon President Michael Gottfredson spoke with the Rotary Club of Eugene on Tuesday about change and continuity as featured guest at the club's January program.

Gottfredson shared the UO’s many successes of 2013, including a record-achieving entering freshman class, capital projects on campus and the shift in governance with appointment of a new Board of Trustees.

The president said that many changes are happening in the context of a continuing mission of providing access and quality for Oregonians.

“Building on the momentum of this transformative shift, we are developing strategic goals that will dramatically strengthen the academic competitiveness and national reputation of the university among our peers,” he told the Rotarians.

Gottfredson spoke with the service organization members about the relationship between the university and the community, which helps improve the region’s prosperity and quality of life.
