UO’s Richmond is among 1859 magazine’s ‘Eminent Women’

University of Oregon chemist Geraldine "Geri" Richmond is among the profiles of the state's most notable women presented in the just-published issue of 1859 magazine.

The profiles focus on women from many walks of life and include adventurers, business pioneers, musicians, political leaders, scientists and social activists.

Richmond, a UO presidential chair, is one of two scientists recognized. The other is Jane Lubchenco of Oregon State University. Both were recently named as science envoys by the U.S. State Department.

"The two women are professors at Oregon universities, highly credentialed and respected researchers who wield influence at the highest levels of science advocacy and policy," the article noted.
