"Valley VanPool" to aid mid-valley commuters to Eugene and UO

University of Oregon faculty, staff and students who commute regularly from Corvallis or Salem may soon be able to catch a break – and a ride – from the Lane Transit District.

Point2point – an arm of LTD aimed at helping people find affordable and sustainable ways to get where they're going – is hoping to launch a pair of "Valley VanPools" to transport commuters to Eugene's city center and the UO campus. One vanpool will originate in Salem and the other in Corvallis.

Both vanpools need a few more riders before they go into service. The cost of joining the vanpools will range from $100 to $150 per month. The Point2point program estimates the monthly cost of commuting in a private vehicle at $661 from Salem and $425 from Corvallis.

The LTD program points out that vanpool riders can read, work or sleep on the commute and arrive in Eugene or the UO stress-free.

Those interested in joining the program may contact Leslee Moore of Enterprise Rideshare at 503-612-8176 or Leslee.A.Moore@ehi.com; or
