A national search has led to the appointment of Julia Pomerenk as assistant vice president and university registrar. Pomerenk will assume the new role this summer after serving as registrar at Washington State University for 14 years.Julia Pomerenk

“In speaking with Julia’s colleagues, I was impressed with how they spoke of her ability to effectively keep all constituents part of the change process and her integrity in all that she does across the WSU campuses,” said Roger Thompson, vice president for student services and enrollment management. “All of us in student services and enrollment management look forward to welcoming Julia to the University of Oregon family and to Eugene.”

Prior to her position at Washington State, Pomerenk worked at Pacific Lutheran University, where she held the position of registrar. While working at WSU, she collaborated to establish the curriculum for the new College of Medicine, from concept to courses. Additionally, Pomerenk has served as president of the Pacific Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers and served in other leadership positions at the state, regional and national level.

“I am thrilled to join the talented and nationally recognized registrar team at the University of Oregon,” Pomerenk said. “I’ve admired their work from afar. Now, after meeting many of my future colleagues and experiencing campus during the interview process, I cannot wait to get started.”

“We had a terrific pool of candidates from across the nation,” said Jim Brooks, assistant vice president and director of financial aid, who served as search committee chair. “The result of this national search brings a new member to our team that we believe will be an outstanding addition to the University of Oregon. Julia is recognized by colleagues and peers as a true leader in her field."

Pomerenk holds a bachelor’s degree in English and psychology from Pacific Lutheran University and a master’s degree in English from Ohio State University.  She will start on July 20.
