SOJC’s Ed Madison, students featured in PBS MediaShift

A student-led project, championed by UO journalism professor Ed Madison, is featured in a new article on PBS’s MediaShift.

In the story, posted on June 1, Madison explains how students developed the idea for Booklandia.tv, a video channel for books that launched in April. The project, he said, started as a challenge for students to create a new way for social sharing and storytelling.

“We noted there are food channels, sports channels and animal channels,” Madison wrote. “However, we could not identify a book channel. Given the role of books in our culture, the idea made sense. It also seemed like a natural fit for a university, and for our journalism school, given our collective commitment to expanding access to knowledge.”

Booklandia.tv allows readers to discover and share videos on platforms designed for storytelling.
