Clock is ticking on the chance to plant your face on a new ID card

Time hasn’t run out on the chance to get a new photo on your new Duck ID.

University of Oregon identification cards are getting an upgrade this fall when newly designed and configured ID cards are distributed to all students, faculty, and staff. Now is the time to bring in a current photo.

“After 10 years of the same design, we are excited to offer a modern look to the UO ID,” said Tamarra White, the guest services manager in the UO Card Office.  “This project presents a unique opportunity for faculty and staff to match the modern look by providing an up-to-date photo.”.

ID cards are an important part of belonging to the university, and having a current photo best represents the staff member and the organization. Now, faculty and staff have an opportunity to submit a current photo of their choosing, rather than using a photo taken at the time the ID was issued.  Many faculty and staff across campus have had the current UO ID for its entire existence and the photo reflects appearances a decade or so ago.

Faculty and staff are encouraged to take this opportunity to submit a current photo rather than continuing with the photo on file, whether a photo reflects a style that has come and gone, an unfavorable DMV look or is just simply out of date.

Submit a photo online to the UO Card Office between now and May 25. Visit the UO Card Office website to access the Selfie Submission Form. This form guides the process for photo submission using the UO online system OrgSync, which requires a DuckID for login.

A profile is also necessary, which is setup quickly by providing a few required fields including email, UO ID number and classification. If a profile already exists, then directions for photo submission will be immediately provided.

Contact White in the UO Card Office at 541-346-6058 or by email at twhite4@uoregon.edu for support or assistance. Deadline for submission is May 25. Instructions for photo submission are available through Human Resources on the Duck ID: Submit a Selfie webpage.

Faculty and staff and current students will be asked to come to the newly renovated Erb Memorial Union beginning fall term to pick up their new Duck ID. The new card will make its debut this summer during IntroDUCKtions, when it is issued to incoming students.

Aside from the design and photo, nothing about the card is changing. Cardholders will still be able to use the campus cash and LTD bus pass features, along with building access and other benefits. However, all students who use their cards to gain access to buildings on campus will need to update their card information with that building in order to continue access.
