Animal defender keynotes symposium

Scott Heiser, Animal Legal Defense Fund senior staff attorney, will keynote the 2012 University of Oregon School of Law's Public Interest Public Service symposium.

The symposium takes place at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, in the Wayne Morse Commons of the Knight Law Center, 1515 Agate St.

Heiser is director of the fund's Criminal Justice Program.

This year's symposium will explore the different settings for the practice of public interest law. Four panel discussions will take place throughout the day, focusing on criminal law, labor law, non-profit careers and indigent representation.
