Convocation will mark introduction to new president
The University Convocation will be held Sunday, Sept. 23,continuing one of the UO’s proudest traditions and completing the annual Week of Welcome.
Convocation serves as the university’s official welcome to new students and faculty and is a celebration of the UO’s academic excellence and the intellectual curiosity in which students, faculty and staff thrive.
This year, the event will also mark a welcome and introduction to new university President Michael Gottfredson.
Convocation takes place at Matthew Knight Arena at 3:30 p.m., with an academic processional starting at the newly opened Global Scholars Hall at 3 p.m.
All faculty and staff are encouraged to participate in the processional. Members of the UO community who have a bachelor’s degree or higher are invited to wear academic regalia. If you need to rent regalia, the cost will be paid by the president's office; you may place your order directly with the UO Duck Store.
