Nominations open for Higdon scholarships
Nominations are being accepted for the fourth annual Jane Higdon Senior Thesis Scholarship, a $1,000 award offered through the University of Oregon’s Center for the Study of Women in Society for undergraduates working on senior theses related to women or gender.
Projects with either the scholarly rigor or a research component comparable to that of a thesis will also be considered for the award. The application deadline is Feb. 10.
The Higdon Scholarship honors the life and work of Jane Higdon, a faculty researcher at the Linus Pauling Institute at OSU and an avid cyclist who was killed while bicycling west of Eugene in May 2006. Financial support for the scholarship is provided by the Jane Higdon Foundation, which is dedicated to encouraging and empowering young people to pursue healthy and active lifestyles and academic excellence.
For more information on how to apply for the scholarship, students should refer to the application guidelines available at the CSWS website.
