Academic extension offers digital publishing course in Portland

A three-day workshop on digital publishing for higher education professionals will be held Sept. 12-14  at the George S. Turnbull Center in the White Stag building in Portland.

Participants will use the Adobe Digital Publishing Suite software to create and distribute digital folios for mobile devices, including smart phones and tablets, such as the iPad. The course covers using Adobe InDesign to create publications containing video, interactive sideshows, scrollable content and interactive web content.

Registration is limited to 18 participants, and the non-credit fee is $ 1,250. Working knowledge of Adobe InDesign software is recommended. Participants who would like to refresh their InDesign skills are invited to register for an optional Thursday evening training session.

The workshop is co-sponsored by Adobe Systems and the School of Journalism and Communication. Course instructors are Ed Madison and Shan Anderson, acknowledged nationally for advising award-winning student publications.
