Benefits office hosts retirement education workshops

The University of Oregon benefits office is offering on-campus retirement counseling to answer questions for benefit-eligible employees regarding tax-deferred investment and optional retirement plans.

A limited number of financial planning workshops are offered with retirement planners.

Fidelity counseling sessions are Nov. 9, 26 and 28 and Dec. 7 and 10. Reservations for the Fidelity workshops are available online or by phone at 1-800-642-7131. Room locations and times are provided at the time the reservation is made.

TIAA counseling sessions are Nov. 13 to 15 and Dec. 4 to 6. Appointments can be scheduled online or by calling 1-800-732-8353.

In addition to counseling, retirement workshops will take place on campus in November. A representative from Oregon Savings Growth Plan will provide information about Oregon's deferred compensation plan as an option for retirement planning Nov. 15. This workshop is offered from 10 to 11:30 a.m. and again from 12:30 to 2 p.m. in the Erb Memorial Union’s Coquille Room. No registration is required to attend.

Representatives from Public Employees Retirement System will offer the following workshops in the Erb Memorial Union rooms 231 and 232, and registration is required:

  • All about the Oregon Public Service Retirement Plan, Nov. 27, from 10 a.m. to noonThis workshop is designed for all plan members, who were hired on or after Aug. 29, 2003, at any stage of their career. 
  • Introduction to PERS, Nov. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m.This workshop is designed for tier one and two members who are more than three years from retirement
  • PERS retirement readiness, Nov. 28, from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.This workshop is for tier one and tier two PERS members who are within one to three years from retirement.
