Cambier Named 2013-14 Tom Hansen Conference Medal Winner

Robin Cambier continued to etch his name into Oregon men’s tennis lore with another award. This time, Cambier has added the 2013-14 Tom Hansen Conference Medal to his mantel.

The award is given to each member institution’s outstanding senior male and female student-athlete based on the exhibition of the greatest combination of performance and achievement in scholarship, athletics and leadership.

The Brussels, Belgium, product wrapped up his career as the program’s winningest player in both singles (90) and doubles (93). He finished his illustrious career ranked No. 75 in singles action and third in the region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. In doubles action, Cambier and teammate Kevin Farin came in at No. 55.

Cambier’s 23-10 mark in singles – predominantly at the No. 1 and No. 2 slots – was good for second on the team this season behind Jayson Amos, who led the team with a 24-5 record. Cambier’s 23 wins were fifth all-time in school history and 2014 was the fourth straight year he tallied 20-plus wins. In doubles action, Cambier teamed up with Farin to post a 24-7 mark, all of which came in the No. 1 position.

UO had one of its most successful seasons in recent memory thanks to Cambier, who led the Ducks to their first semifinal appearance ever at the Pac-12 Championships. Oregon also qualified and appeared in the NCAA Championships for the fourth time in program history and the first time since 2004.

Cambier was also recognized for his work on and off the court, earning second-team All-Pac-12 honors and Pac-12 All-Academic Team honorable mention.

Conference medal winners have been named every year since the 1960-61 academic year. In 2009, the Pac-12 renamed the award the Tom Hansen Conference Medal in honor of Hansen, who retired at the end of June 2009 after serving for 26 years as Commissioner of the Pac-10.
