Campus ride programs need volunteer student navigators

The University of Oregon's safe ride programs are recruiting student volunteer navigators to help meet high ridership demand.

Safe Ride, Designated Driver Shuttle and the UO Campus Shuttle all need a large number of reliable, responsible volunteers in addition to their regular staff to provide service to more than 10,000 UO students each term.

Volunteer navigators manage trips by entering data into iPads, communicating with dispatchers by radio and providing directions and support to drivers. Shifts are usually 2½-3½hours each, between the hours of 5:30 p.m.-midnight, Sundays through Thursdays. No prior experience necessary; the UO provides training.

Students interested in volunteering with Safe Ride can fill out an online questionnaire. Those who would like to volunteer with the Designated Driver Shuttle or UO Campus Shuttle should send an inquiry email with contact information to asuodds@uoregon.edu or uocampusshuttle@uoregon.edu.
