COMING ATTRACTIONS: New sports science clinic heads list of upcoming events at the UO

The Bowerman Sports Science Clinic, fearless freelancing opportunities, human rights in Guatemala – those are among the upcoming events at the University of Oregon.

  • The University of Oregon’s Bowerman Sports Science Clinic will open its doors to the public and members of the media for an open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at 1580 E. 15th Ave., Eugene.
  • Veteran freelancer Julie Williams, graduate of the University of Oregon School of Journalism and Communication, will present “The Fearless Freelancer” at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, at the George S. Turnbull Center, Floor 3R of the White Stag Building, NW 70 Couch St., Portland.
  • From Silence to Memory: Archives and Human Rights in Guatemala and Beyond,” a UO symposium looking at human rights in Guatemala and beyond, kicks off at 3 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 24, in Knight Library’s Browsing Room.
  • The 10th Oregon Economic Forum – an initiative of the University of Oregon College of Arts and Sciences and Department of Economics – runs from 7 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, in the Kridel Grand Ballroom of the Portland Art Museum, 1219 S.W. Park Ave. Registration required.
  • The Vienna Boys Choir performs at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4 in Beall Concert Hall. Tickets are $39 and $28, and $10 for youth with the purchase of an adult ticket. Call 541-682-5000, order through the Hult Center or online.
