What You Need to Know

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC) Community Level for COVID-19 in Lane County has risen to medium. Fortunately, the county case and hospitalization rate remain much lower than their peaks this winter. We want to remind you of the available campus resources and the personal preventative strategies you can take to reduce your risk of COVID-19:
  • Be up to date on COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Monitor for symptoms and stay home if sick.
  • Consider wearing a mask while indoors and near others.
  • Wash your hands fully and frequently.
  • Get tested. Free home tests are available through the CDC. Free PCR testing is available on campus through the UO's Monitoring and Assessment Program (MAP).
The UO supports an individual's choice to wear a mask as an effective means of personal protection. Wearing a mask when around others is a proven and effective strategy for reducing the risk of exposure to COVID-19.
Masks are encouraged though optional outside of health care settings. They continue to be required in health care settings, such as University Health Services and MAP.
KN95 masks are available on campus to UO students and employees at these locations. More information about wearing and caring for KN95 masks can be found on this safety sheet.
If you test positive for COVID-19, remember you must stay home for at least five days. Use the CDC's quarantine and isolation tool to help determine how long you need to isolate, quarantine, or take other steps after testing positive or being exposed to COVID-19.
The UO will continue to work with local public health authorities and closely monitor COVID-19 conditions in our community to inform future decisions and policies. Thank you for your help continuing to adapt and protect our community.

Oregon Health Authority: State and county data and trends are reported on the Oregon Health Authority COVID-19 data page. State and county vaccine distribution is reported on the OHA vaccination trends page.
Community Level: Current COVID-19 Community Level can be found on COVID.gov and is updated on Thursday evenings. Community levels consider a combination of metrics including new cases and hospital data.

Reminders

COVID-19 Testing: Individuals with no symptoms or mild symptoms can get tested through the UO's Monitoring and Assessment Program. MAP test results are available within 2-4 business days. This is not a rapid test.
Masks are required at COVID-19 testing sites. Masks should be worn in line even if you are outside. For more information about testing including how to register for a test and the upcoming week's schedule visit the Coronavirus Resources website.
Watch for updates to summer hours and location.
Booster Reporting: After becoming eligible and receiving your COVID-19 booster shot, remember to update your vaccine status with the UO. To submit your booster shot information:
  • Students: Log in to the MyUOHealth Portal. Visit the "Immunizations" tab. This is the same process used to upload your original vaccination information.
  • Employees: Fill out this online form and upload a copy of your vaccine card. This is the same form used to verify your initial vaccine status.
Exemption process: For information on the exemption process visit the student or employee vaccination webpage.
Prevention: The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus. The CDC outlines some general precautions for personal prevention.
