What You Need to Know

Outdoor Mask Requirement Lifted: As of today, November 23, 2021, the University of Oregon no longer requires people to wear face coverings outdoors, following the Oregon Health Authority's (OHA) announcement that masks are no longer required outdoors in Oregon.
The UO maintains a layered approach to COVID-19 mitigation. This includes a highly vaccinated campus with more than 96% of students and 95% of employees fully vaccinated. To prevent the risk of COVID-19, individuals should continue to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state, and local health guidance including being fully vaccinated, monitoring for symptoms, washing hands, wearing masks indoors, and staying home if sick.
Federal Vaccination Deadline Extended: The federal employee vaccination requirement reporting deadline has been extended. The UO deadline to comply is January 14, 2022. To comply with federal vaccine reporting requirements, all UO employees must verify their COVID-19 vaccination or exemption. Employees should use this online form to upload their documentation.

Many UO sports teams are competing again. The UO's layered safety protocols are designed to protect student athletes and fans. To cheer on the Ducks at an upcoming athletic event here are a few reminders:
  • Everyone aged 12 and over must provide:
    •  Proof of COVID-19 vaccination, OR
    •  A negative test result within the prior 3 days, OR
    •  A positive test documenting recovery from no earlier than 10 days and no later than 90 days prior to the event.
  • For indoor events, attendees aged 5 and over must wear a mask when not actively eating or drinking.
  • For outdoor events, don't forget your mask for indoor spaces such as restrooms.
  • Learn more about What to Bring to the Game.
Event protocols are among a few of the COVID-19 preparedness and mitigation strategies considered in UO's overall risk assessment.

UO Vaccination Rates

Faculty and Staff: 95.3%
Students: 96.8%
The vaccination rate is updated on the COVID-19 Safety Dashboard every Monday. All UO faculty, staff, and students are required to be fully vaccinated or submit a vaccine exemption and undergo weekly testing. UO vaccination rates are a key measure in becoming a "fully vaccinated" campus under CDC guidelines for higher education.

Reminders

Symptom Self-Check: Before coming to campus, perform a symptom self-check. Pay attention to anything you are experiencing outside your baseline (what is normal for you). The COVID-19 symptom self-check tool is available on the University of Oregon mobile app. Download the app from iTunes store or Google Play.
End-of-Term Schedule: Classes will continue in person after Thanksgiving. There are no plans to switch to remote instruction during December.
Prevention: The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus. The CDC outline some general precautions to minimize the spread of respiratory diseases.
