Outdoor Mask Requirement Lifted: As of today, November 23, 2021, the University of Oregon no longer requires people to wear face coverings outdoors, following the Oregon Health Authority's (OHA) announcement that masks are no longer required outdoors in Oregon.
OHA still recommends people wear masks when in crowded outdoor settings for an extended period of time.
The UO maintains a layered approach to COVID-19 mitigation. This includes a highly vaccinated campus with more than 96% of students and 95% of employees fully vaccinated. To prevent the risk of COVID-19, individuals should continue to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), state, and local health guidance including being fully vaccinated, monitoring for symptoms, washing hands, wearing masks indoors, and staying home if sick.
Federal Vaccination Deadline Extended: The federal employee vaccination requirement reporting deadline has been extended. The UO deadline to comply is January 14, 2022. To comply with federal vaccine reporting requirements, all UO employees must verify their COVID-19 vaccination or exemption. Employees should use this online form to upload their documentation.

Many UO sports teams are competing again. The UO's layered safety protocols are designed to protect student athletes and fans. To cheer on the Ducks at an upcoming athletic event here are a few reminders:
Symptom Self-Check:Before coming to campus, perform a symptom self-check. Pay attention to anything you are experiencing outside your baseline (what is normal for you). The COVID-19 symptom self-check tool is available on the University of Oregon mobile app. Download the app from iTunes store or Google Play.
End-of-Term Schedule:Classes will continue in person after Thanksgiving. There are no plans to switch to remote instruction during December.
Prevention: The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus. The CDC outline some general precautions to minimize the spread of respiratory diseases.
