Why is it important to regularly get COVID-19 testing if I don’t feel sick?
Many people can carry the virus without showing symptoms. By getting tested when you are asymptomatic, you are doing your part to prevent further spread of the virus to your family, friends, and others by identifying the virus, isolating, and cooperating with contact tracers.
Where can I get tested if I don’t have symptoms?
The UO offers free COVID-19 testing for all asymptomatic UO employees, students, and the Lane County community. Testing is quick and easy, usually taking only 15-30 minutes from start to finish. You collect the sample yourself by swabbing your nostrils. To learn more and make an appointment, visit the UO COVID-19 testing web page.

COVID-19 Cases

  • There were 175 members of the UO community who tested positive or were considered presumptive positive in the last seven days (January 18-24) as of 10:00 a.m. today. A total of 1,081 members of the UO community have tested positive for COVID-19 since reporting began. Information about known cases within the UO community is updated by 10:00 a.m. weekdays.

  • The Oregon Health Authority reports  138,587 confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases in the state, 8,803 cases in Lane County, 29,216 in Multnomah County, and 1,020 in Coos County as of January 25.

Reminders

  • Oregon's COVID-19 vaccination efforts and sequencing are being led by state and local public health agencies. The UO is working with public partners to help provide access to vaccinations. It is not yet known when the vaccine will be available to students and staff. See the vaccine and distribution webpage for the most up-to-date information. 

  • The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention outline some general precautions to minimize the spread of respiratory diseases.

It remains unclear when COVID-19 vaccinations may available broadly to the UO community, but the UO is preparing to help provide access through a preregistration process for employees.
