When will vaccinations begin for UO faculty, staff, and students?
We do not yet have an estimate of when higher education employees or students will become eligible to receive vaccines at this time. We continue to work closely with public health officials about how faculty, staff, and students fit into vaccine distribution sequencing. The latest information about state vaccine distribution is on the Oregon Health Authority’s vaccine sequencing webpage.
It is possible that state guidelines will allow some employees to receive a vaccine due to personal circumstances through a health care provider, pharmacy, or public health clinic before it is available through the university’s process. Lane County Public Health has opened registration for vaccination to all members of the public, including UO employees and students, through a web form and by phone. To ensure access, we are encouraging employees and students to take action by registering with Lane County Public Health or through their health care provider, in addition to the UO pre-registration form employees already completed. COVID-19 Cases- There were 62 members of the UO community who tested positive or were considered presumptive positive in the last seven days (February 11-17) as of 10:00 a.m. today. A total of 1,443 members of the UO community have tested positive for COVID-19 since reporting began. Case numbers are updated daily, Monday through Friday. In most cases, updates will be made by noon. But exceptions are possible when reporting is delayed.
- The Oregon Health Authority reports 151,713 confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases in the state, 9,960 cases in Lane County, 31,406 in Multnomah County, and 1,309 in Coos County as of February 18.

Reminders- With spring break quickly approaching and regardless of where you are currently residing, we ask you to remain vigilant and not travel out of the area at this time.
If you must travel, minimize your risk of contracting or spreading COVID-19 in these three easy steps:
- Before you travel, check your destination city and state for any travel restrictions or requirements. Do not travel if you have been diagnosed with COVID-19 and are in isolation, have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms in the past three days, or have had contact with a confirmed case, or are in quarantine.
- Before you head back, schedule a test for 3-5 days after your return. Your two best resources if you live in Eugene: MAP and other testing providers in Lane County.
- Upon return, quarantine by yourself until you receive word of a negative test—and watch yourself for symptoms. Keep distance and wear your mask around others, including your roommate.
- The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention outline some general precautions to minimize the spread of respiratory diseases.
