What You Need to Know

  • As spring break approaches, regardless of where you are currently residing, we ask you to remain vigilant and not travel out of the area in the weeks ahead. If you must travel, follow Oregon Statewide Guidance and CDC guidelines for travel which includes testing, quarantining, and other safety precautions.
  • The university is organizing a week of wellness during spring break, which will offer students a variety of fun, safe events to de-stress and recharge, including self-guided nature walks, movie binge lists, art exhibits, and more. Stay up to date as events get added to the calendar.

What is the difference between on-campus, remote, or online classes?
On-campus classes will show a physical location and time in the course listing. On-campus classes may have discussion sections offered both in-person and remotely.
Remote classes will show 00 REMOTE in the location and list a time. These classes normally would be held in-person, but due to current circumstances, have been modified to use alternative course instruction methods. They will have live engagement during scheduled class periods, so be aware of time zone differences if you are not located in the Pacific time zone. Remote classes may also have in-person discussion or lab sections
Online classes will not list a time and will show 00 WEB in the location. These classes are purposefully designed to be delivered completely online. Online classes typically have regular deadlines, but do not require students to meet online or in-person.

COVID-19 Cases

  • There were 47 members of the UO community who tested positive or were considered presumptive positive in the last seven days (February 15-21) as of 10:00 a.m. today. A total of 1,463 members of the UO community have tested positive for COVID-19 since reporting began. Case numbers are updated daily, Monday through Friday. In most cases, updates will be made by noon. But exceptions are possible when reporting is delayed.

  • The Oregon Health Authority reports 153,134 confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases in the state, 10,057 cases in Lane County, 31,164 in Multnomah County, and 1,370 in Coos County as of February 22.

Reminders

  • The UO is offering two days of COVID-19 MAP testing this week—Tuesday and Thursday. The tests are quick, free, and easy, and open to all asymptomatic students, faculty, staff, and Lane County residents. See this registration page to reserve an appointment.
  • The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention outline some general precautions to minimize the spread of respiratory diseases.

UO teams are playing key roles in local vaccination efforts
In keeping with its role as a community leader, the University of Oregon has mobilized resources across campus to help Lane County fight off COVID-19. Most recently, the UO helped organize 10 vaccination clinics that provided more than 12,000 vaccines to eligible Lane County residents.
