COVID-19 Update
April 08, 2021  •   coronavirus.uoregon.edu

What You Need to Know:

Vaccines
  • Vaccination clinics for faculty, officers of administration, classified employees, UO and agency temporary employees, graduate employees, and student employees begin the week of April 19. All employees can schedule an appointment now. Full details available on the UO coronavirus website.

  • UO student vaccine clinics will start in May or sooner. Students should log in and complete the Student Vaccine Interest Survey to indicate their interest so the UO can order an appropriate quantity of COVID-19 vaccine for our community.

  • Employees and students who are eligible to receive the vaccine should take the first opportunity available to them to be vaccinated. That may be by signing up through Lane County, through their health care provider, or a pharmacy.

Other News

  • Cases are rising in Lane County. Social gatherings continue to be a leading cause of spread of the virus in our community. Please remember to wear masks, maintain distance, limit numbers of people, and socialize outside if not everyone is vaccinated.
  • COVID-19 testing is fast, free, and easy. It is available for all asymptomatic UO employees, students, and residents of Lane County age 3 and older. Pre-registration is required via the Monitoring and Assessment Program (MAP) registration portal.

Tip of the Week: COVID-19 Long-Term Effects
COVID-19 symptoms can last for weeks or months.

Featured FAQ

If I received my first COVID-19 vaccine dose somewhere else, can the UO provide a second dose?
No. To receive your second dose, you should return to where you received your initial dose or go through Lane County Public Health to schedule your second dose. You may need to wait until three days before your second dose is due to schedule through Lane County.

COVID-19 Cases

  • There were 33 members of the UO community who tested positive or were considered presumptive positive in the last seven days (April 7, 2021). A total of 1,628 members of the UO community have tested positive for COVID-19 since reporting began. Case numbers are updated daily, Monday through Friday.

  • State and county cases and trends are reported on the Oregon Health Authority COVID-19 data page. State and county vaccine distribution is reported on the Oregon Heath Authority vaccination trends page.

Reminders

  • The UO is planning summer term sessions to be a mix of remote, hybrid, and in-person courses, as they have been in spring. We may offer more in-person classes as the summer goes on, if Oregon Health Authority guidance for higher education is updated. We are planning to be mostly in person for fall term.
  • The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention outline some general precautions to minimize the spread of respiratory diseases.
