What You Need to Know

Moving to moderate risk: Thanks to lower COVID-19 case and test positivity rates, Lane County will move down to Moderate Risk on Friday, under Gov. Kate Brown's reopening framework. There will be some limited changes in UO operations, including:
  • Increased capacity at the Student Rec Center (reservations still required), in indoor dining, and at the Museum of Natural and Cultural History.
  • Indoor and outdoor events have increased occupancy allowance, under Oregon Health Authority guidelines.
Low risk close: Lane County is extremely close to reaching 65 percent of county residents 16 and older having at least one vaccine dose: less than 3,000 people away as of Tuesday. Once the county reaches that threshold, it will drop to Low Risk. When Oregon as a whole reaches 70 percent, most COVID-19 restrictions will be lifted.

Sports tickets giveaway: Lane County Public Health, in partnership with UO and TrackTown USA, is raffling off football, basketball, and Olympic Trials tickets to county residents who get their first vaccine dose this weekend (Thursday through Monday). Clinics are running at numerous locations, including Autzen Stadium, and walk-ups are welcome.

Community testing continuing: COVID-19 testing for the local community through the UO Monitoring and Assessment Program (MAP) is continuing next week and throughout the summer. Asymptomatic testing is available for anyone, ages 3 and up. Consider this free and easy testing option for children preparing to enter summer camps and other group activities. Pre-registration is recommended but walk-ups are accepted.

Campus tours: Guided UO campus tours for prospective students will begin on June 14. Each prospective student can bring up to two guests and must register in advance. Visitors should follow CDC guidelines for travel and must complete a COVID-19 symptom self-check before arriving on campus. Tour groups will be limited in size to allow for physical distancing.

Featured FAQ

Is physical distancing still required on the UO campus now that face covering rules have been loosened?
While the Oregon Health Authority and the UO no longer require masks outdoors, Oregon OSHA does still require distancing (both indoors and outdoors), except when it's not possible to do so. Outdoor work and events can occur without masks, but plans need to be made to keep employees and participants physically distant.
