What You Need to Know

COVID Leave: The University of Oregon offers a new paid leave option for unexpected absences due to COVID-19. All employees may use UO COVID-19 leave for paid time off when they or a dependent living in their home is quarantined or isolated due to testing positive for or being exposed to COVID-19.

Employee Vaccine Requirement Deadline: Tomorrow, Friday Sept. 17, is the last day for employees to report their vaccination status. Employees are required to complete a secure online form. The form is mobile-friendly and can be completed on any device.

What to know about face coverings: Face coverings are important in limiting the spread of the coronavirus and reducing the chances of infecting others. The UO's mask requirement is one of the reasons why the university has been able to return to in-person instruction for fall term.

UO Vaccination Rates

Faculty and staff: 95.6% of employees reporting

Students: 96% of student reporting

The vaccination rate dashboard is updated every Monday. All UO faculty, staff, and students are required to be fully vaccinated prior to the start of fall term. UO vaccination rates are a key measure in becoming a "fully vaccinated" campus under CDC guidelines for higher education.

What will happen if I do not complete the COVID-19 vaccination requirement process prior to the deadline? The COVID-19 vaccination regulation is a university-wide requirement.

Students who do not submit their vaccination records through the myUOHealth portal by September 27 deadline will not be allowed to attend classes at the UO. All non-compliant students will also be subject to a registration hold on Tuesday, September 28, and dis-enrollment from university classes at the end of Week 1.

Employees who do not complete the vaccination requirement form by September 17 will be contacted to take immediate action to comply. Failure to comply will result in disciplinary action up to and including termination. Follow up, discussion, and disciplinary action will begin immediately following the deadline.

COVID-19 Cases

UO: There were 5 members of the UO community who tested positive or were considered presumptive positive in the past seven days (September 5-12).

OHA: State and county cases and trends are reported on the Oregon Health Authority COVID-19 data page. State and county vaccine distribution is reported on the Oregon Heath Authority vaccination trends page.

Reminders

Free wellness kits: The university has a limited supply of free wellness kits available to students, faculty, and staff beginning Sept. 20. The kits, which include hand sanitizer, UO branded masks and a thermometer, can be picked up with a valid UO ID at the EMU O Desk while supplies last. Limit one kit per person. Starting Sept. 20. the EMU O Desk will be open 7 a.m. - 9 p.m.

Prevention: The best way to prevent illness is to avoid being exposed to the virus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention outline some general precautions to minimize the spread of respiratory diseases.

UO Testing Program Processes its 100,000th test

The UO Monitoring and Assement Program, MAP, has provided free COVID-19 testing to the community since fall of 2020. Testing is available for asymptomatic individuals regardless of vaccination status.
