COVID-19 Update: Positive test results in UO community

NEW

  • Three additional University of Oregon students have tested positive for COVID-19 in Eugene.  All students are recovering in isolation. Public health officials are conducting contact tracing and monitoring for individuals associated with these positive cases. The University of Oregon is providing information about positive COVID-19 test results for students and employees within the UO community.
  • Gov. Kate Brown today announced that everyone throughout the state will be required to wear face coverings in businesses and other indoor public spaces beginning Wednesday, July 1. The requirement is already in effect in Oregon's most populous counties.
  • With an increasing number of cases locally and nationally, it is important to practice precautionary measures. The best way to prevent infection of COVID-19 is to avoid being exposed to the virus. People without symptoms may still be able to infect others. Avoid social engagements and establishments where physical distancing and face covering guidelines are not being followed. Wash your hands often, put at least six feet of distance between yourself and others outside your home, and cover your mouth and nose with a cloth face cover when around others.

REMINDERS

  • The university has approved a new self-check health regulation which outlines that students and employees should conduct a self-check daily and not come to campus if they are experiencing or have experienced any COVID-19 symptoms in the previous 72 hours. Additional information will be provided about implementation and procedures of this requirement as they are developed.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • The Oregon Health Authority reports 8,485 confirmed and presumptive COVID-19 cases in the state, 145 cases in Lane County, and 2,167 in Multnomah County on June 29. Thirteen members of the UO community have tested positive.
