DAILY CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Latest news and campus announcements

  • The university has launched a remote education webpage for students that includes links and resources to connect students with class support, academic advising, technology resources, student services, involvement, and much more.
     
  • The Office of the Provost sent the first of a series of weekly emails about remote teaching to faculty today in preparation for the start of spring term on Monday. It contains a checklist for week one, as well as guidance and support for remote education.
     
  • The university has modified some of its spring term grading options to account for the shift to remote learning and the uncertainty the COVID-19 pandemic has caused. Students receive an email about changes in grading options for undergraduate courses. Faculty received a similar email about how these temporary rules will be managed.
     
  • To support remote work, research, and teaching, Dropbox will soon be available for all UO faculty and staff. People with existing Dropbox accounts associated with their @uoregon.edu email addresses may see an optional invitation from Dropbox to transition their account into the University of Oregon Dropbox team. More information will follow next week.
     
  • REMINDER: The university will hold a virtual town hall for students and their families to answer questions about remote education, student support, and how the UO is protecting campus and the community during the COVID-19 outbreak. The event will be livestreamed from 2:30 – 4:00 p.m. on Monday, March 30. You may submit a question ahead of time anonymously using this web form. Additional information and web link for the livestream is coming soon and will be available on coronavirus webpage.
     
  • The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases increased to 424 in Oregonincluding nine in Lane County.
     
  • The university continues to work in close coordination with the Oregon Health Authority and our companion institutions and agencies.
