DAILY CORONAVIRUS UPDATE: Latest news and campus announcements

Here is the current information related to university operations and programs. The latest information is available on the UO Coronavirus webpage and FAQ page.

NEW:

  • Lane County began today a Phase 1 reopening, after an announcement earlier this week from Gov. Kate Brown. However, that does not currently change the University of Oregon’s operations. Oregon universities are subject to an executive order from the governor that limits campus operations through June 13 and are awaiting new guidance from the Oregon Health Authority.
  • The Office of the Provost Faculty and GE Support Group sent out its Weekly Teaching Update to all faculty and GEs for week eight. The focus is on preparing for finals and sharing other resources as the term winds down.

REMINDERS:

  • The UO has received $8 million in Emergency CARES grants that are available to students who have incurred expenses related to the disruption of campus operations due to the coronavirus. Examples of eligible expenses include medical, food, housing, utility, and technology expenses; relocation costs to return home; unexpected childcare; course materials; and other unexpected expenses. Students who meet the eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply for the emergency grants.
  • Students may also seek support from the donor-supported Students in Crisis Fund. Students who are dealing with serious financial disruptions that might negatively impact their academics are encouraged to call 541-346-3216 or visit dos.uoregon.edu. To give to the fund, visit giving.uoregon.edu.
