Deadline is April 10 for Graduate Research Forum proposals

Graduate students have until April 10 to submit proposals for the annual Graduate Research Forum, which will be held in-person May 13 for the first time in two years.

The forum is an opportunity for graduate students to share their research, practice presentation skills and receive feedback. Presenters are judged on clarity, presentation, design and effectiveness in communication. Researchers can participate in poster presentations, the Three-Minute Thesis competition or panel sessions.

Poster presentations summarize research and provide a starting place for discussion. The layout typically combines brief text with tables, graphs and images. Presenters will be available at the event to discuss and answer questions.

The Three-Minute Thesis competition gives students one slide and a maximum of 3 minutes to present their research. The experience helps students effectively explain their topic concisely and in language appropriate to a nonspecialist audience.

Panel sessions are comprised of presentations on a particular theme by three or more students. Sessions are limited to 60 minutes, of which 10 minutes must be set aside for Q&A or other discussion, so the actual presentations should take up no more than 50 minutes of the 60-minute session.
