Duck Nest to host ribbon-cutting at EMU location

A ribbon-cutting and dedication for the new student wellness center in the Erb Memorial Union will give its primary beneficiaries a chance to show how a donor’s generosity can make a difference in their lives.

Known as the Duck Nest, the center will host representatives from PacificSource Health Plan from 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10. PacificSource partnered with the University Health Center to create the student-led, dedicated space whose mission is making health and well-being an accessible part of everyday life by creating a hub for the campus community.

To help establish the center and fund the new Healthy Campus Initiative, PacificSource has pledged to make a gift each year for five years.

Located on the lower level of Erb Memorial Union, the Duck Nest wellness center helps students develop self-care and life-balance strategies related to stress, nutrition, physical activity and general wellness. Programs include meditation and relaxation, yoga, acupuncture, tobacco cessation and healthy eating on a budget.

PacificSource Health Plans is an independent, not-for-profit community health plan that values partnership, service excellence, community and personal relationships. The company provides health care solutions to businesses and individuals throughout the Northwest.
