Eyes Up

By Terry Shea, BS '68 (sociology), MS '69 (counseling)

NFL Quarterback Coach has written his 420 page book on the development of the quarterback position. The book is written for high school and above quarterbacks and coaches. Coach Shea has developed quarterbacks like Sam Bradford, Matt Stafford, Josh Freeman, Blaine Gabbert, and Trent Green. This book will read like a conversation between the quarterback and his coach. It is designed to teach the athlete all the components of playing the quarterback position with success. However, this book is more than an instructional book for quarterbacks only. It is written to energize coaches, parents, and football fans to embrace the art and magic of playing quarterback. Coach Shea writes, "My love for football and the quarterback position has transcended five decades. This passion is the driving force behind “Eyes Up.” I discovered what I treasure and I have found a way to share it with you. Quarterback is the most unique position in all of football. It is played with athletic arrogance and quick decision-making. Quarterback performance plays a major influence on the outcome of a game. No other position demands such a burden of accountability, mental toughness, or the ability to pass the ball with superior accuracy."
