Faculty asked to participate in student mental health survey

As part of a collaboration between UO’s University Counseling Services and the Healthy Minds Network, faculty members are being asked to participate in an upcoming survey to assess students’ mental health.

Because of the pandemic, faculty members are positioned to recognize students in distress and serve as key mental health gatekeepers. Research on college student mental health has been increasing, yet little attention has been paid to the role of faculty. To help fill this gap, the Healthy Minds Network has developed an online survey that will be sent to college and university faculty members on campuses across the country during winter term.

The anonymous online survey focuses on understanding faculty members’ experiences related to student mental and emotional health. The responses will help improve understanding of how campuses can better support students and faculty.

Beginning next week, faculty members will receive an invitation with a survey link. The survey is brief and voluntary. For more information about the survey, contact the Healthy Minds coordinator at facmhsur@bu.edu or UO study coordinator Suzie Stadelman at sstadelm@uoregon.edu.
