Freshman profile: Steven Kyker

High school and hometown: George Washington High School, Denver, Colo.

My biggest academic accomplishment so far:  Getting my International Baccalaureate  Diploma.

My academic interests include: Biology, Chemistry, Social Sciences, and a little Math.

What I like to do for fun: I love to go out and do some sort of athletic sport or activity, from tennis to hiking to ultimate, but I also enjoy just watching movies or reading a good book.

People might be surprised to know: I I competed at the World Championships for Triathlon this past September in Canada, and got 16th in my age group there, and got to be apart of Team USA.

The one thing I’m most nervous about: Probably money.

The one thing I’m most excited about: The freedom.

I chose Oregon because: It offered me everything I was looking for in a school, from excellent academics to a thriving social and athletic scene to a beautiful campus.

Scholarships I’ve received include: The Summit Scholarship.

When I think of Oregon: I think of the woods, rain, and tranquility.

The thing about college I’m most looking forward to: The new opportunities it comes with, from meeting new people of different backgrounds and cultures, to trying new activities, to immersing myself in a higher level educational environment.
