Friends, faculty asked to share memories of UO student

Members of the campus community who knew UO junior Miles Reinke are invited to share memories of the gregarious and compassionate student, who died unexpectedly March 20.

A memorial web page has been set up by the Department of International Studies, where Reinke was majoring. He was described by friends as “vivacious, enthusiastic and down to earth” and was looking forward to a study abroad trip to Spain this summer.

“Miles’ enthusiasm was contagious,” wrote professor Anita Weiss, head of the department at Reinke’s academic advisor. “He was so looking forward to his future, excited about new experiences that were awaiting him. He was transforming into a confident adult — and it all ended much, much, much too soon.”

The memorial page can be viewed here. Anyone who knew Reinke is invited to add their remembrances.
