Graduate Profiles: Medical school beckons human physiology grad

Meet Jonathan Friedman, Class of 2015:

Hometown:  Lake Oswego

Major: Human Physiology

My favorite thing about UO: The green scenery! Not just the campus landscape but also the areas surrounding it. It’s incredible that on a sunny day I can be working in a laboratory one minute and five minutes later be jogging on a side bank of the river or the back curves of Pre’s Trail.

Favorite professor or instructor: Jon Runyeon was my instructor for the entire anatomy major track courses. He has a passion and curiosity for the subject, and the way he applied concepts to real medical scenarios made each topic worth studying (not to mention that the proportions of his beard turned into somewhat of a lifetime goal for me).

What I did for fun: I traveled to China this summer to intern at a hospital for a couple months, which was the most interesting thing I’ve done while here at UO. But I also had fun working in the cadaver dissection lab, exploring Eugene’s many breweries, going for runs and throwing pottery at the EMU Craft Center.

What’s next: In June I am applying to medical schools for 2016 matriculation. I also have a job lined up working as an emergency room scribe at a Providence Hospital in Portland.
