Grants available for UO staff to assist study abroad programs

Global Education Oregon is accepting applications from all UO staff — officers of administration and classified employees — to serve as study abroad program assistants at select locations.

Grant recipients will work closely with the Global Education Oregon director, faculty leader or program coordinator to determine the appropriate form of participation both before and during the grant period. The form and extent of participation will vary depending on grant recipient background, experience and interests; type and duration of study abroad program; faculty leader, program goals and expectations; and program logistics.

The grant covers the recipient’s cost of travel, lodging, some meals, and related fees, such as travel and health insurance. Individual grant amounts will vary as determined by the selection committee but will not include salary or per diem compensation.

In 2018, the following Global Education Oregon Centers will be open for participation: London, England; Segovia, Spain; Accra, Ghana; and Siena, Italy. Applicants can also request participation in a UO faculty-led program, with approval from participating faculty.

Applications are due March 15. Applicants must fill out a two-page study abroad grant cover sheet and statement of purpose, along with a written endorsement from their supervisor and approval to use vacation or leave time.

Download the official call for proposals for full details. For more information or to submit materials, contact executive assistant Pam Duncan at pamd@uoregon.edu.

The applications will be reviewed by a selection committee consisting of UO faculty, plus international program staff, with final selection made after interviews with relevant international program staff, faculty program leaders and program coordinators.

UO staff from all departments and classifications are encouraged to apply. While this program focuses on staff, Global Education Oregon has a series of separate ways to support UO faculty.
